Welcome to NASCAR Truck Series

Ryan Newman wins first time out in truck series.

Ryan Newman Wins First Truck Race.

On his first start in the NASCAR Truck Series Ryan Newman chalked up a win. Newman edged out Ron Hornaday in saturday's E-Z Go 200 at Atlanta Speedway.

Newman got around his Kevin Harvick Inc. teammate Hornaday on the final lap to score his first win in the truck series.

Newman said of Hornaday, "He raced me clean and I have to say thanks for that first and foremost. I didn't really know what to expect. It was a lot of fun."

"Ron raced me like a gentleman. Obviously, he is racing for a championship and we were racing for the win and we were well aware of that. But he was racing for the win, too."

Hornaday was disappointed with the runner-up finish but tipped his cap to his new teammate on having a win the first time out in the NASCAR Truck Series

Hornaday stated, "Second stinks, we ran good all day and that just showed what KHI's got, two great teams."

Denny Hamlin, Todd Bodine and Scott Speed rounded out the top five.

Erik Darnell, Johnny Benson, Kyle Busch, T.J. Bell and Bryan Scott completed the first ten finishers.

Johnny Benson was able to hold on to the series point lead but is now only 31 ahead of Hornaday.

Benson Wins Martinsville.

Johnny Benson picked up the win and the points lead in Saturday's NASCAR Truck Series Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway.

Benson came into the weekend trailing defending series champion Ron Hornaday by 39 points in the standings.

But after his win, Hornaday ran out of fuel in the closing laps, Benson leaves Martinville on top of the series by 65 points with four races left in the season.

Benson stated, “I love Martinsville, I don’t like sometimes how it races here but it’s cool to be in victory lane, I tell you that.”

Hornaday started on the pole and led every lap until with 46 to go Benson worked underneath him to take the lead and win the race.

Hornaday fell further behind Benson as the laps wound down, he finally ran out of fuel as did his team owner Kevin Harvick, who was running third.

Hornaday said, "We’ve just got to get better fuel mileage."

Harvick was credited with a 17th-place finish and Hornaday wound up in the 29th position.

Hornaday said."We feel good about the tracks we have left coming up but this shows you just how tough this series is."

The victory was Benson's first win at Martinsville and marked his fifth win of the season.
