Chase At A Glance

A short insite on how the new race for the Sprint Cup Championship is set up.

In the first 26 races it will be determined which drivers, based on overall points, will be able to compete for the Sprint Cup championship during the final 10 races.

The drivers who are in the top 12 in points will qualify for the run for the Sprint Cup Chase Championship. Before Race 27, the points are adjusted for all drivers who qualified for the Chase. The first-place driver in the standings begins with 5,050 points; the second-place driver starts with 5,045, and so on, with five-point drops continuing through the list of title contenders.

This year in the first 26 races any wins will carry over an extra 10 points per win, giving the driver with the most points and wins the 1st place and on down to 12th place
