You have decided on what kind of a new vehicle you want to purchase so now is the time for some carfacts tips on negotiating for your vehicle. A good tip is when you arrive at the Dealership,take a test drive in a couple of selected vehicles you like and write down the options that come on that vehicle and don't stray with a lot of extras as these will wind up costing you more than you want to pay for the vehicle and those extras put more money in the dealers pocket. A couple of other tips is to make a copy of your drivers license and black out your SS# and always keep the keys to your trade in in your pocket until you are sure you are ready to deal.This way a sales person can't hold you up with the excuse that someone is checking your car and manager is checking your credit.You are free to leave anytime and don't have to stay and listen to more sales tatics. Another tip is,in most cases don't buy the vehicle on your first visit to a dealer,and make sure the sales person knows this up front. Some other tips are,don't let a saleman tell you that "TODAY" is the only day we can make this offer,or that the offer you present is just not acceptable but "maybe we can get closer or SPLIT the difference". Also Carfacts has found that the best day of the month to negotiate a deal is the next to the last day of the month. If he can't tell him you will look elsewhere until you someone does.This will either have him try to re-negotiate your deal or he will say you won't be able to find that deal.If he does the latter just get up and leave and go to another dealer,there are plenty of them out there wanting to sell you a vehicle.
