Welcome to NASCAR Nationwide Series 2009

Brad Keselowski Wins In Iowa.

The first NASCAR Nationwide Series race to be held at Iowa Speedway was won by Brad Keselowski who beat Series points leader Kyle Busch.

With 60 laps to go in the race, Keselowski with Busch in tow broke away from the field and then with 25 laps remaining Busch got by Keselowski and looked like he would likely take the checker.

With 15 laps to go the 12th caution flag came out, shortly after the restart with 8 laps remaining, Keselowski moved on Busch and went by to go on for the win, his 4th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Series.

With a fate that is becoming all to common for Kyle Busch Lady Luck gave him another blow and he had to settle for another 2nd place.

Busch started at the rear of the field after being at Pocono practicing for the Pennsylvania 500 that was run on Monday after a rainout Sunday. Busch has had 9 straight 2nd place finishes,it was the 4th time in 5 Nationwide races where he has finished 2nd.

Kyle stated that,"Apparently, I don't know what I need in my race cars in order to win these races at the end of them. It's a frustrating day." Even with the 2nd place at Iowa he is still 207 points ahead of 2nd place Carl Edwards in the Nationwide Chapionship points.

Keselowski said, "I couldn't have asked for a better finish. It's a lot more fun to say I beat Kyle heads-up. That means a lot to me." He also stated "Everybody loves someone that beats Kyle Busch."

All though a few other drivers threatened from time to time, Keselowski and Busch combined had the lead all but 45 of the 250 laps. Jason Leffler finished 3rd with Carl Edwards 4th and Kelly Bires rounding out the top 5.

Keselowski picked up an extra bonus of $75,000, by winning the Dash 4 Cash offered to Nationwide regulars at stand-alone races.

Temporary stands were set up for Saturday's race and they were filled, with a total attendance of over 56,000 fans. It was also an important weekend for Iowa Speedway, NASCAR reported it was the highest level points race to be ran in Iowa since 1953 when Herb Thomas won at Davenport Iowa Speedway.

The Iowa Speedway is only in it's 3rd season and has aquired NASCAR Nationwide Series, Camping World Truck Series and Indy car races.
